Sutter County District Daycare Employee Accused of Sexually Abusing Multiple Children

Child Care employee accused and arrested for sexually abusing multiple children

The Sutter County Sheriff’s Office recently reported that a Live Oak daycare employee identified as Steven Kruse, has been arrested for sexually abusing multiple children that were in his care. Law enforcement received information of suspected child sexual abuse at Kruse Oralia Family Child Care Home. The daycare is a state-licensed facility. It has been alleged that Kruse, 63, was involved in many acts of child sexual abuse with several children. As a result, he was arrested on multiple felony charges including lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14, dissuading a witness from reporting a crime, and oral copulation or sexual penetration with a child under 10 years of age.

Parents who use daycare services expect that their children will be well taken care of and free of harm. Such egregious behavior taking place in child care centers highlights the widespread problem of child sexual abuse in the United States. Despite so many cases going unreported for a myriad of reasons, those cases that are brought to light show that the issue is alarmingly common in the country and millions of children across all demographics are affected. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicates that one in four girls and one in 13 boys with experience sexual abuse at some point during their childhood.
