AI Child Sexual Abuse Content
Perpetrators are already using AI to create child abuse images. This is happening across the world and is a global problem that needs to be taken seriously. The images may also be generated by children themselves as ways to harm each other. Some cell phone apps are available that create naked photos from photos of kids who are fully clothed. In addition, perpetrators take existing images of children they find online on places such as Facebook and manipulate them through AI to turn them into sexual content, which they then distribute.

The IWF is strongly urging governments to strengthen their laws, specifically regarding AI.

However, there are a variety of tools currently available that do not contain mechanisms that stop the use of nude child imagery. The IWF hopes to communicate the serious issues of potential child sexual abuse through AI, so others will take steps to stop it.
