Suspected Sacramento County Serial Child Sex Predator Arrested

child sex predator

A California man suspected of being a serial child sex predator has been arrested and charged with allegedly coercing several children into creating online sexual content. The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Demetrius Carl Davis, allegedly persuaded the minors to produce pornographic images and videos of themselves. Demetrius has been charged under the California penal code, Section 288(a), which prohibits luring children below the age of 14 to do any kind of action that may be considered sexual.

If convicted, he could face up to 8 years in prison.

Who Are These Children, and How Did This Child Sex Predator Get in Contact With Them?

The kids in question, up to 80 of them, are from all around the world and cut across different ages. However, the average of their age is 9 years old. Demetrius had apparently created a fake profile under the alias “Lizzy” to lure in the unsuspecting children. He created a false identity and pretended to be someone he is not in order to get close to them.

This “Lizzy” persona he created was that of an innocent young girl. This most likely made his kid victims more like to trust him, while enabling him to conceal his true identity and intentions. The use of Lizzy as a facade allowed Demetrius to groom his victims and ask them to perform several lewd acts, which he then recorded on his phone.

How May You Find Out if a Child Predator Is Talking to Your Child(ren)?

One way to find out if a child sex predator is talking to your child is by using social media monitoring software. This software can help you track your child’s conversations on social media platforms and alert you if there are any suspicious conversations happening. You can also keep an eye on your child’s activity on these platforms, and if you see anything that makes you concerned, you can investigate further. Additionally, you can talk to your child about child predators and what to do if they ever encounter one.

How To Talk to Your Child(ren) About Child Predators

When introducing this topic to your child(ren), you need to do the following:

  • Explain what a child sexual predator is
  • Talk about the dangers of talking to strangers
  • Discuss online safety
  • Provide reassurance to your children

When speaking to a child about potential child sexual predators, it is important to use developmentally appropriate language that the child can understand. It is also helpful, to be honest, and open with the child, while also stressing that the majority of adults are good people who would never hurt a child.

Some ways to talk to a child about potential child predators include explaining that these people might try to lure the child away with promises of gifts or treats, or by acting like they are a friend, just like in the case is Demetrius above.

What Can You Do if You Suspect Your Child Is a Victim of Child Predation?

If you have any suspicion that your child is being preyed on by an adult, it is important to take action immediately. Even if it is just a suspicion, anyone who suspects that their child is being coerced into creating explicit online content should contact the police immediately.

Then, talk to your child about what is happening and make sure they feel safe and comfortable talking to you about anything that might be going on. You can also reach out to a trusted adult, like a family friend or neighbor, for help.
